Family Road Trip to Colorado

I made a goal this summer to prioritize the FOUR F’s in my life:

FOUR F’S: Faith, Family, Friends, and Fitness.

I’ve shared a lot on this blog about how I’ve prioritized Fitness in my life but not as much on the other three F focuses. I hope to incorporate all Four F’s, and what I consider top priorities in my life, on the blog more going forward. There’s so much more to a happy and healthy life than just fitness after all!

Two weeks ago, I spent an entire weekend focusing on the Family and Friends part of this goal.

My husband had to work that weekend, so I packed up the little ones and we hit the road from Kansas to Colorado to visit friends and family.
Road trip to Colorado with childrenWe started the trip with going to Pueblo, CO to visit a friend and her two daughters. It was a 6.5 hour car trip but we made the most of the drive with frequent stops and the movie FROZEN on the Kindle helping to keep us entertained.

The next morning, we took the kids to the zoo in Colorado Springs for our big outing of the trip. The zoo is built on a mountain side, so it was definitely a workout pushing the strollers around the trails.

My daughter’s favorite exhibit was the lions.

0809141206The kids played well together and the zoo outing was a success!

0809141648bI’m not sure how it’s possible to sleep in this position? (We stayed at the Antlers Hilton in Colorado Springs that I scored a great deal on with one of those secret hotel gambles!)

0810140616aThe next morning, I woke up sick to my stomach, so that delayed our departure for a few hours. Luckily, the kids were in great spirits for the long car ride home.

We stopped to play at parks to help break up the trips. (This face definitely shows the ride was getting long!)

And I was thankful for the one and only Starbucks along the 6 hour route home for my much needed caffeine fix!
